| Pattern Description: This is a pattern for making either a Lamb themed quilt, blanket, framed Lamb, toy lamb or a bib.
Pattern Sizing: N/A
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I am not a quilter and I had never previously done any appliqué work. There were LOTS of appliqué pieces to cut and to keep track of for this project. When I made the quilt from this pattern, I think there were a couple of things that would likely have made my life easier. It would have been helpful to know how to use a rotary cutter. I must have screwed up on the cutting because I ended up short on one of the lambs (or it could have been due to the ravelly fabric) and therefore I added the trim at the top of each frame. That turned out to be okay and one of the touches that was enjoyed the most by my girlfriend (The quilt was for her daughter). I think it also would have made my life easier if I had traced the appliqué for the pattern onto the paper backed fusible web prior to cutting it. There is a lot of hand sewing involved both for the appliqué as well as for the binding. I ended up looking up how to do a blanket stitch, a French knot, and a blind stitch on YouTube because the illustrations were not sufficient for me.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
There was nothing in particular that I disliked. It certainly took me a lot longer than I anticipated. No doubt that is because I'm a beginner.
Fabric Used: I used cotton for all of the square pieces and the binding. The recommended fabric for appliqué was felt which I used and works well but is kind of rough. I made this quilt before I made M5900, which affected fabric choices for that project (see M5900 review). The quilt is really supposed to be more of a wall hanging so I guess having "rough" lambs didn't matter.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added white trim to each lamb frame.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew it again and yes, I would recommend it to others. For the beginners out there, it is a great way to practice hand sewing!
Conclusion:
The pattern is great and it was worth doing. I really learned a lot which allowed me to have enough confidence to make the M5900 quilt for my nephew! |

Your quilt is very sweet. I've been looking at this pattern, but thought it might be too complicated for me. Maybe I'll give it a try....after I try a basic one first. :)

Nickelc624, I would have considered doing the blanket. It was also really cute and less work! But believe me, if I can do this, you can too!!!

Good work! The baby quilt is beautiful. If the baby will use it, rethink the tiny ribbon which can be pulled off and swallowed. This quilt will be well loved and cherished. You should be very proud.
