I just finished my first cover, and I too was amazed at how fast the whole project is. I even made a wool padding for underneath the cover. We could make wardrobes for our ironing board....

Looks really good! I've done it too and it can be a huge improvement on the ready-made covers. The jacket toggles are a great idea!
