Nice pants, looks like a useful pattern. I agree that it looks like it might be working better for knits... although in my experience too sometimes those stretch wovens do behave strangely, so maybe it's just the fabric.

Why are the zippers sewn on the outside?

Exposed zippers are a fashion trend that's been around for a couple of years. Mostly I don't get it but I thought it might give an edge to my rather floral pants.
