Four piece skirt with inverted pleat below centre front seam. Deep inside hip pockets with outside stitching and shaped flaps. Pattern Sizing:
Pattern was available in waist size 24, 26, 28, 30, 32. My pattern was a size 28" waist. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
With alterations, yes. The pattern picture exaggerated the angle of the pockets while the actual pattern's pockets had a noticeably smaller angle. I altered the pattern to achieve the angle shown on the picture as that's what attracted me to the style in the first place. Were the instructions easy to follow?
very. They were clear, concise and complete. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the pockets - love, love love them! The luscious big fold back flaps with the huge deep pocket bags, set into a slim fitting straight skirt along with the slightly higher waistline of 50s skirts accentuating the curve in the small of the back... just sexy! Fabric Used:
100% wool - a vintage fabric though I'm not sure how close to the age of the pattern (1950) it is. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My only change was some alteration in the pockets. I added a pocket lining which is attached at the bottom of the flap facing piece and is then encased in the seam binding around the pocket bag so it is not seen outside the pocket at all. I increased the angle of the pocket opening as the picture son the pattern cover showed a much greater angle than the pattern itself had. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love this skirt and would definitely sew it again. The lines are elegant and pattern was a dream to follow. |
