| Pattern Description: The Rococo Blouse from Dawn Anderson Designs features a low square neckline with princess seams, fully lined, buttons up the front or the back, with interchangeable sleeve ruffle options; gathered sleeve ruffles with a detachable eyelet ruffle or triple circular ruffles.
Pattern Sizing:4 through 26
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The instructions are incredibly thorough and well thought out. I also really like the circular ruffles on the sleeve.
Fabric Used:Silk crepe lined with China silk. Ruffles lined with silk charmeuse.
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:None
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Yes (I have made the blouse twice and have plans for at least one more); yes, highly recommend to others.
ConclusionThis blouse is very flattering, comfortable and fun to wear. I made View A first from a cotton. I made no alterations to the pattern and it fit perfectly. Dawn has written extensive directions for altering this pattern based on your own measurements so if you do need to alter, she will walk you through it. I liked this blouse so much that I decided to make View B which the pattern describes as being for an advanced skill level. I love the circular ruffles at the sleeve hems which I lined with a contrast fabric. The pattern allows for the ruffles to be tacked up for a drapery effect but I didn't do that on my blouse.
Dawn's instructions are some of the best of the independent pattern companies. They are very thorough and walk you through each and every step of the process. I like this blouse so much that I am planning to make another one from an off-white silk and use the two smallest sized ruffles only for a more casual blouse. |

Very very nice. I have been seeing the ad for this pattern in the back of Threads and have been intrigued. Beautiful job, and all of your other garments (I peeked) are first rate as well! This blouse is more wearable than I might have thought from the ad.

Great job, Julie, and nice to "see" you again! We miss VA but are loving living in the Great NW. That top would be a lot of fun to wear, so maybe I'll try it...

Julie - your top looks fantastic - and I also love the other garments you've got in your gallery - especially the pink and white jacket! I would love to try and make this pattern but will probably wait until I've got a bit more experience! Great work!

You're going to help sell patterns for that pattern line, for sure! This blouse is really lovely. Good instructions are so important -- thanks for commenting on them.

Thanks for the comments on my other garments (I've since changed the picture URL to Dawn's website since she has posted pictures of the blouse as my picture website has limited access). The pink and white jacket is a knock-off of Kwik Sew 3236. I drafted the pattern using pattern drafting software (Wild Ginger's Pattern Master Boutique) using the Kwik Sew pattern as a guide. That Kwik Sew pattern is excellent and I'll write a review on it in the future as I see no one has done so yet.
