Your Aussie improvisation is just lovely! (I hope the wire doesn't rust and stain the fabric.) It looks like you've got the brim size just right. Brims that are too wide are a nuisance. Well done; a nice job.

Hnm, fencing wire. I wonder if that is baling wire here? Doesn't rust and is fairly pliable with pliers. Love this hat and LOVE that dog! (I saw an Australian movie called "Red Dog" this weekend, so it's good to see another Dog of Oz cavorting so freely--truly poetry in motion.) Oh, btw, this pattern goes on The List!!!

Cute hat!! That must be a very wide brim since you were able to take 2" off and still get a lot of shade!! Grat photos!!!

nice hat, My friend made a similar hat but she added flat plastic boning around the edge of the brim, the bonus of this was it folded up and went into her pocket.
