Pattern Description: A creative and fun jacket with a flared petal hem. It can be easily made into a reversible version, or embellished with ruffles and embroidery.
Pattern Sizing: Kids sizes: 18mo to size 11-12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Absolutely, I felt like a magician! Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't really need the instructions, but what I did use (for making the jacket reversible) was very clear and useful.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn't like that the sleeves aren't marked to indicate the front verses the back. I ended up adding a little notch to my tracing paper copy, so that won't be something I have to figure out in the next time I make this jacket.
I love that the flares become apparent almost immediately. Maybe I am just immature, but for me, seeing that happen was magic!
Fabric Used: Baby corduroy for the "exterior" and linen for the "interior" along with some sparky star shank buttons and flat wooden buttons on the linen side.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any this time, but I would like to add some pockets, and maybe embellish the center back like some of the pattern pictures show.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I wouldn't be surprised if I decided to sew another one tomorrow!
Conclusion: This was a simple pattern, with so much room for imagination!
