Pattern Description:
Short sleeve dress with a collar, high waistline/empire waist/baby doll style, zipper in the back. Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 8-20, I made a size 12 bodice, size 10 skirt, and size 16 sleeves Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, but I eliminated the fake placket and buttons Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the fit of the bodice and the style. I didn't like how the skirt looked "hippy" on me with the pockets so I took them out. Fabric Used:
Polyester-rayon-spandex from Joann Fabrics. I really like it because it drapes nicely, is machine washable, is super soft, and has a tiny bit of stretch. I don't like that it needs some extra tlc pressing (used the lowest setting and a press cloth) and that it seems to attract dust. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Extended gathering on the top of the sleeves by about 2" on each side
Used an invisible zipper
Took out pockets
Used lace hem tape for the bottom of the skirt
Instead of shortening the bodice by 3/4" like I usually need to, I shortened the skirt above the waist by this amount. When I tried to do this to the bodice, it came out too short.
The style/pattern is already short, I am short (5'), but I didn't want the skirt too short, so basically, I didn't need to shorten the skirt like I usually do. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would like to sew it again, perhaps in a wool. But I have other things that I'd like to try and this is not a quick project for me so I probably won't. Conclusion:
A cute dress with the shape I was looking for and comfy to wear.
