Pattern Description:
This pattern is of a coordinating dress and jacket. I am only assembling the jacket at this time. Pattern Sizing:
I cut the pattern to 12. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it looks like the option I chose to construct. "E" Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were easy to follow... but at the collar (my first time constructing a jacket) I sat and pondered for a bit how that was going to go together. Could be that I was just up super late sewing too ;). I am use to sewing with the step by step pictures with each numbered step; this pattern includes several steps per picture. I figured it out however being my first jacket I could have used all the pictures haha... What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pattern appears to be fine, I am just not digging collars... perhaps I will get better with time.
The sleeves are not suppose to be puckered.. mine are I put the dots on to do the ease, however if I do this pattern again I would extend the ease over about an inch to half inch to get the more flush sleeve look that I was suppose to get... Not sure if this is just something perhaps that I did or if it was a pattern issue... either way I like them poofed or flush. Fabric Used:
Snowflake gold polyester brocade, with burgandy red bias tape for the hong kong finish. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Applied the hong kong finish. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes... I need more collar practice ;) Conclusion:
I am pleased with the outcome of this jacket... I have no complaints. It is super cute and I was able to gain more experience with collars (all these sewing years I have avoided collars, lol...) I believe it will go great with the dress I made previously to go together.
Quickie said... Think it's a fine jaquet. Perhaps the fabric wasn't fine for easing in. You could in that case try to lower the sleevecap just a little bit. I love the bow . 12/30/12 2:03 PM
