Pattern Description:
From the Simplicity website "Misses' & Miss petite Traveler shirt dresses. Lisette Sew Your Style pattern."
Pattern Sizing:
6 - 22, I made a 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were really good, lots of handy tips too which would be great for a beginner.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like how simple this was to make and the silhouette.
Fabric Used:
A cotton poplin, it was a little heavier than poplin normally is though.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Due to fabric restrictions I had to shorten the sleeves and piece the button band facings. Compared to other Big 4 patterns I've made I would say that it's long through the body - which is perfect for me Depending on the pattern company I usually have to add anywhere between 1 and 2 inches to get the waistline to line up with my waist, but not this time. This is also the first time I've come across a pattern where the collar and collar band are one piece and while it worked nicely, I think I prefer them separate.
Now that I've worn the dress a few times I think that I'll sew the button band shut from about the waist down, to help preserve my modesty, rather than keep it as a functioning button band. The band gapes when I sit down and if I'm not careful my underwear shows :-o
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
This is a great pattern, if shirt dresses are your thing then give this one a go.
Conclusion:
A great dress that I can see myself making again. There are more photos here on my blog Sew Love Red
