Pattern Description: This is a vintage pattern for three tops with sleeve and neckline variations. I made view C which is a v-neck with short, cuffed sleeves. This pattern is from 1978

Pattern Sizing: Misses' sizes 6-20; I cut a size 6

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? For the most part, yes. I chose to omit the cuffs, and I lengthened the shirt to make a dress.

Were the instructions easy to follow?I had a bit of an issue with the neckband guide, but other than that, everything was very easy to follow.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The pattern was very straightforward, and it was a quick item to make. The only thing I disliked was the lack of finished measurements at the bustline. To me, this is the most important measurement on the back of the envelope. Even though it is a knit, there is a LOT of positive ease in the pattern. I am glad I measured the pieces before deciding which size to cut!

Fabric Used: A polyester blend that was NOT a stretch knit. It was leftover fabric my sister no longer wanted.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Due to the random piece of fabric I used, I had to split the back piece into two instead of cutting on the fold. I did NOT use a stretch knit, and I can still fit into it. I did not choose to do the cuffs on the sleeves, as I felt they were a bit dated. I also lengthened straight down from the slides to make this a dress length.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would absolutely sew this again, both as a dress and as a shirt. If I were to make it out of woven fabric again, I would probably increase a bit at the arms, as they are a teeny bit snug. I would like to try all three views, and I would recommend this--but be sure to CHECK THE PATTERN PIECES to decide what size to cut.

Conclusion: Easy beginner project, good for wardrobe.

Vintage patterns tend to have a mystery fit about them, but they can be worth a little extra effort as they may have design qualities that are unusual or strangely right on trend, as in the one you chose!
