Pattern Sizing:
BB 8-10-12-14
I made a size 10 but had to make my zipper back seam a little wider than 5/8. I'm typically between an 8 and 10 so I think this pattern runs typical of Butterick.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't ever get the instructions out because when I was cutting it out I decided to add a full lining and also knew that I would be making modifications to avoid any hand sewing. It goes together very intuitively though.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Quick.
Fabric Used:
I used an apparel fabric from JoAnns. Nothing special but the price was right. This was sort of my trial for a wool I really want.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Added a lining by cutting out everything twice. I then only cut out the facings in interfacing and attached those to my lining to keep the neck sizing nice. I finished the neckline and the sleeve edges then ran my gathering lines to attach my bodice right and left together and baste my lining down. I used these to fit it to the interfaced waist midriff. Then added my midriff ining and basted the bottom of the midriff together. I added my fabric skirt and then the lining skirt so my bottom midriff seam was sandwiched in between. Added a zipper through all thicknesses. Voila. Quick, easy, no hand sewing.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yeah, I'm still considering it for a wool I'm eyeing but I tend to rarely sew things twice to likely I won't. I would recomment it to others though. Its a nice dress.

This is great! Classic kimono-style but with shape. I like that print, too.
