Pattern Description:
Sleeveless dress with fitted bodice, slight a-line skirt and front skirt flounce
Pattern Sizing:
0-18. I used a 6 with FBA for the shoulders and cut an 8 for the waist and hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they were. The Colette Sewing Handbook has very clear instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the fit (now that I have it figured out - I made my last one in a straight 8 with FBA - too much room in the bust!). I hate how the bust looks in general, though - but that's really a fabric/pressing issue and has nothing to do with the pattern itself.
I also had a problem with the back neckline gaping a bit. I adjusted this in my muslin, but it's still present, to a degree, in my final garment. I've decided it probably has to do with the step where you pull the garment inside out through the shoulders. Too much pulling leads to stretching and distortion. If I had realized this the first time around, I would've used stay tape on the neckline to stabilize it.
Fabric Used:
Silk faille. Hate it's hand and I hated working with it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1" FBA and I moved the darts down about an inch. I think I could've gone just a little bit lower with them, as they aren't exactly pointing to my apex.
I also had to line the flounce because the silk would not take such a narrow seam allowance on the bias. No problem, though - I think it looks better than my last version this way!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Well, I think two is enough at this point, but since I made two I guess the answer would be yes: I would sew it again and recommend it to others.
Conclusion:
It's simple, it's cute, it's easy to fit. Just go for it.

It looks lovely on you! I get what you're saying about annoying fabric though - you can get sick of a project well before you wear it :-)

I have the colette book (recent birthday present) and wasn't too sure about the Truffle dress, but it looks very good on you, despite all your problems. It might even convince me to have a go...

I like the fabric, the color and the length of your version of the Truffle. As annoying as the silk faile was for you, it looks great.

I love your version and this silk is gorgeous! I know how exhausting working with those types of fabrics can be, but it is wonderful in your pics

Oh dear, this was one of those sewing "adventures." But I have to say, you wouldn't know any of your frustrations with the fabric from the final result--you look gorgeous!

Gorgeous dress! Even though the faille didn't behave well during construction, it makes a lovely dress.
