Pattern Description:
From Vogue's website: Lined, mock wrap dress has collar, close-fitting bodice with bands/hook&eye, fitted skirt, overlay with mock band, belt loops, sleeve bands and invisible left side zipper. Darts are stitched on the right side of fabric. Lining forms attached slip with shoulder and lingerie straps.
Pattern Sizing:
8-24. I made the size 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looks very similar to the line drawing and the model photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions where fine but I chose to do some of the construction steps a little differently.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the neckline and lapels. I love that it's a faux wrap. When I'm at my job, I've come really close to having a wardrobe malfunction with other wrap dresses.
Fabric Used:
I used a Nike Dri-Fit fabric. It's soooooooooo cozy soft on the inside. It's warm but my building is always cold so it works.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
They have you put on the collar/lapels like a woven shirt collar and handstitch the SA under by hand. Instead, I constructed the collar and lapels, and pressed them WST. Then I just sewed the collar/lapels to the staystitched neckline. The inside is not as pretty as the other method but it's also inside (my bra will not tell anyone otherwise). Then I topstitched just like they did. On this dress, the darts are supposed to be on the outside of the dress. I put them on the inside like you would normally.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love this dress but don't know if I will sew it again. It's pretty distinctive.
Pictures:
I need to add some detail pictures but here is the front and the back.
I am hating on my camera lately. Yes, this is a black dress and yes, this is in flat light. But, REALLY?? These photos suck and I know that. I need to try to get better photos. Does neon blue snow look normal to you?? |

I'm currently working on this dress on and off and can't quite figure out the lapels and collar. What do SA and WST mean? I love the dress. I'd never have thought of using that fabric. Terrific idea!
