Pattern Description: Semi-fitted, unlined jacket has collar, left front extending into drape and stitched hems. A: purchased decorative hook/eye tape for closing. A and C: right front and right collar edges may be cut on selvage, wrong side of fabric shows on drape. B and C: purchased decorative zipper.
I did both B and C, but both of them with View B's length. This is a very short jacket, View C moreso than B, so I even lengthened the second one I did.
Pattern Sizing: 6 to 14 and 14 to 22. I did size 14.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, this was an easy pattern. The zipper is different compared to how you normally do a zipper, but after I did it once, it was way easy the second time.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that this is an asymmetrical pattern and that the zipper shows. I like that it shows how to use a good selvedge with it, if you choose.
They do not show it on the package but you can also wear this zipped all the way up for a less casual look:
Zipped Collar Partially zipped collar in leopard
Fabric Used: 100% polyester knit for the first one, I did the second in a leopard print sweater knit.
Leopard Sweaterknit version
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None except making the sweaterknit version longer.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? If you like something a little bit different, yes I would recommend this. I like that its just a little bit edgy compared to most patterns. I am not sure if I will do it again, only because I now have 2 of them and I do not think I need a 3rd one in such a distinct pattern.
Conclusion: The pattern tells you how to shorten the zipper but I wish I had gone with a LONGER zipper on both of them, even the first version that I did not shorten. The zipper SHOULD be flush at the top and bottom and I was not able to get it flush at the top even with the recommended 22" zipper. So for the second one, I made it flush at the top and indented up on the bottom, which is fine by me but would have preferred it to be flush both ends.
I really wanted to do the hook and eye tape version but I could not find any of that tape locally and the price for the tape online with shipping was just seemed too high to be worth it.

Very nice! I especially like your leopard one. I also made this jacket and couldn't find a zipper I liked or the hook and eye tape. I ended up using a snap tape that I found at JoAnn's. I liked the look of the snap tape but, like you, I wanted it to be flush with the jacket edges. So I used a seam sealant on the ends of the tape rather that turning them under. I've laundered the jacket and so far the tape is fine. My jacket is light blue and the tape is black so I hand sewed the tape so the contrasting thread color wouldn't show. This was a little time consuming but worth it, I think.
