Pattern Sizing: 10-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? For the most part, yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really liked the detail of the "band" around the middle and of course the flounce along the bottom
Fabric Used: From Walmart, $2.00/yd. polyester chiffon
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: First, after reading a few reviews on this pattern, I decided to take the advice and cut it 2 sizes larger than I normally would. This was good advice as through the shoulder area, it fits great with plenty of ease but may not have if I cut it my regular 12. Hpwever, it was definitely too boxy thru the waist and hip area and because I had a feeling this might happen, I sewed the side seams last making it possible to take the sides in until there was some definition at the waist. Instead of the flounce at the sleeve, I simply used some 1/4' elastic around the wrist. I also did not make the ties at the neck..the fabric frayed so badly I knew there would be no making 1/2" ties..instead, I measured out a little more elastic, put it thru the casing and secured it about where the ties would be attached.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I will sew this again..I have some black chiffon that has an amazing feel to it and this would work up great. I think the next time I will add the flounce at the wrist and also make the "v" on the neckline deeper.
Conclusion: In conclusion, I initially had my doubts about this top and it really surprised me. The fabric frayed horribly just looking at it and if it were not for Goodbye Valentino's post about Steam-a-Seam, this may well have ended up being thrown across the room. I used 1/4" Steam-a-Seam along the bottom flounce and the sleeves before adding the elastic and it was the answer! I seriously don't know how I have LIVED without this stuff. All in all, it is a nice top that will get a lot of wear
