| Pattern Description: Girls princess seamed dress, knee length with jewel neckline. Pattern includes bolero jacket, hat, purse and crinoline.
Pattern Sizing: 98-128
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Other than my alterations, and the fact that my model smiles, yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I have no idea. Since I made some alterations to the style and made it in a knit rather than a woven, I didn't even glance at them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was looking for a dress pattern on which to base a Princess Merida dress and can you believe, this is the only one in my stash with princess seam lines rather than a gathered skirt. That said, there really is a lot to like about this pattern otherwise. The lines are lovely and simple and the pattern includes a lot of fun extras. The pattern is well drafted and fits my daughter extremely well.
Fabric Used: Cotton jersey from Girl Charlee
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lengthened the sleeve to full length and tapered out the fullness to make the sleeve snug. I also altered the neckline to a square neck like Merida's. Since I made the dress from a knit fabric and opened up the neckline, I omitted the zipper and finished the neckline with a band rather than facing.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think this will be the perfect base for the Merida dress I am making, but it is also a really nice basic flared dress. I will definitely make it again and I do recommend it.
Conclusion: This is a lovely simple dress that would fit easily in any little girl's wardrobe. |
