Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I think yes, for the most part
Were the instructions easy to follow?No. It was my first time sewing a Burda downloadable pattern and I have to say it was quite a learning experience. Printing the pattern at home, taping the sheets together and cutting out wasn't difficult. Adding the seam allowances, although new to me and time consuming, was easy. Deciphering the instructions was the challenge. No sketches or diagrams whatsoever are included, only poorly translated text instructions. I contacted the "help" tab on the Burda website to see if diagrams existed and had no replies. I went slowly and took my best guess in a few spots but eventually it all came together. Maddeningly enough, I found a copy of this Burda issue online a few weeks ago and when it arrived in the mail I was surprised to see that this was the featured pattern of the issue, meaning that detailed instructions AND DRAWINGS were included. Why that information is not provided with the pattern download I have no idea.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I was drawn to the photograph and thought it would be a great LBD pattern. I love the princess seams and side insert panels on the bodice that are used instead of bust darts. The back V is really nice. The extended shoulders are also a good look, plus it has pockets (yay!). My only dislike would be that the front V is very deep; so much so that I really can't wear it without a camisole underneath or as a jumper over a top.
Fabric Used:Black bamboo/viscose/lycra knit
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:The pattern called for woven fabric to be used, along with Duchesse satin for the side inserts, which did not appeal to me at all. I used a knit fabric, eliminating the need for the side zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I plan to make the skirt option soon. I love the shape of the skirt and the pockets.
Conclusion: This was an LBD contest "test" pattern that I made in late October. I was very pleased with the dress as a whole but it didn't wow me quite enough to be my contest entry. It's a great work dress that I've worn several times since it was completed.

I like the link to the German Burda site...I had fun with that yesterday and bought a download that was unavailable in that format through the US Burda. Cute dress...those Burda "instuctions" really make you think for yourself!

Haha! Great story...welcome to Burda! It's an adventure for sure. This is SO cute as a jumper, and belted! Looks great...may have to give this one some thought. Great review so thanks!
