Pattern Description:
Girl's classic style dress with sleeve and neckline variations and gathered skirt.
Pattern Sizing:
3-8. I used a 3 for youngest granddaughter and a 5 (altered for a slender fit) for her sister.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, with embelishments.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, it is a basic pattern.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this pattern. Nothing not to like. A very useful basic dress if you sew for girls.
Fabric Used:
Version 1: Poly Sparkle Crinkle fabric in white Version 1 front Version 1 back
Version 2: Poly chiffon in a taupe color Version 2 front version 2 back
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added a wide sash of a beautiful metalic ribbon with sequins (actually I found the ribbon first, so in reality I added the dress to the sash )
And a border at the hem of the same ribbon, and then an elaborate bow and flower embelishment in the back at the waist with snaps. pictures hereand here
I rounded the neck.
My 5 year old granddaughter is very slender, so I basically made a size 3 in width and size 5 in length for her.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will use this pattern again and again. I already have easter dresses cooking.
Conclusion:
an essential basic pattern. I especially like the dainty puffed sleeves on version A.

Wow, that's gorgeous. Hopefully you'll be able to continue to sew for her throughout high school and make a few prom dresses!
