Pattern Description: Cynthia Rowley design. Top and skirt/shorts. Top has a dropped shoulder, boat neckline and topstitching.
Pattern Sizing:6 - 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Very.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like the neckline and the curve on the bottom band. I also like the ease of putting this together. Truly a Make it Today/Wear it Tonight (MTWT!) I made this almost completely on the serger which helped with the fraying factor.
Fabric Used:gold lurex/silk brocade by Carolina Herrara from Mood Fabrics. I am a shameless copycat and this was a direct, blatant copy from Mood Fabrics Sewing Network. The fabric was surprisingly nice to sew on despite my misgivings as I have never sewn on metallic fabric before. It irons nicely and tolerates high heat and steam. I worried about the topstitching since I didn't have any metallic thread on hand. As it turned out, the topstitching just disappears in the fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:None. It is rather boxy so I might shape the sides a bit the next time. I also recommend going down a size.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Absolutely. There are lots of different fabrics in my stash just begging to be made!
Conclusion: Easy construction -- great pattern for beginners!
