Pattern Description: Loose-fitting, pullover top has collar, front button bands, self-lined yoke, forward shoulder seams, flaps, pleated pockets, and sleeves with pleats, button cuffs and continuous lap. Narrow hem. Collar, bands, yokes: cut on crosswise grain of fabric.
Pattern Sizing: 8 - 24
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not exactly because I made several cosmetic alterations.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the instructions were fine.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was inspired to duplicate an Elizabeth McKay top - The Elizabeth Top. I bought the pattern because I thought the lines and proportions of it were close to the top.
Fabric Used: silk charmeuse (shiny side down)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: After making a muslin of the bodice for fitting purposes I experimented with alterations on the bodice neckline and ruffle variations until reaching an acceptable resemblance to the original. I eliminated the plackets and standing collar and made a new facing for the ruffled neckline.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes! I'm determined to get an exact duplication!
Conclusion:
I like this pattern with or without my alterations. It can be dressed up or down and isn't too bulky like some loose fitting blouses and tops. |

Love what you have done with this blouse. I enjoyed reading your blog and must agree with you that Herman Melville definitely was not a sewer.

Beautiful top. I love that you used the wrong side of the charmuse. Must feel very slidey. I esp love your new neckline with ruffle.

Pure elegance! You're so good about taking the time to muslin everything. Maybe I'll make that my New Year's resolution!
