Pattern Description: From the pattern envelope back: Fitted, unlined jacket (does not meet at center front) has front extending into collar, wrong side shows, side pockets, stitched hem on collar/sleeves, and raw-edge finish on hem. B: shown overlapped.
You can ignore the fitted part. Unless your idea of fitted is different than mine. I think it has a loose fit, perhaps because there is no closing in the front.
Pattern Sizing:
XS (4-6) to XXL (24-26). I sewed a M (12-14) which is probably why I find this loose fitting, especially through the shoulder area. I usually sew a 12 in the neck/shoulder area and taper out to a 14 at the hip.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
It's ridiculously easy to sew and yes, the instructions are easy to follow. It took me just a bit longer as I wanted to match the stripes as much as possible so I handbasted seams first.
Oh, if you sew the back collar seam right sides together and hem the collar as instructed the center back seam will show when worn as will the hem.
Keep your fabric choice in mind as the wrong side of the fabric will show when the collar is folded back.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the high/low hemline and thought it the design would work well with the knit I had purchased.
Fabric Used:
An ITY knit purchased during the 2011 PR DAY Birthday Celebration shopping trip to SR Harris. It's a black and white stripe with a hint of a silver metallic stripe.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just a small forward shoulder adjustment and shortening the sleeves - which are alterations I make on almost everything.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
The ONLY reason I rated it as a "mediocre" pattern is because I have to constantly fuss with it when it's worn. The shoulder area constantly shifts backwards.
Conclusion:
Easy to sew cardi. If you don't mind the constant fussing to adjust the shoulder area when wearing I say go for it.
