| Pattern Description: The edgy split back-opening not only allows you to keep you cool in the summer but also means that Dove top doesn’t need any buttons or zips to completed. Ideal for a quick stashbusting creation. Inspired by the Christopher Kane fitted t shirt the Dove top is perfect to be worn as a sophisticated alternative to the t shirt.
Pattern Sizing: Multi-size pattern in sizes 8-16
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Instructions were great. At times I wondered where the pattern was going, but it all worked out perfectly! They're great instructions for beginners, with a very high level of detail. Accompanying illustrations were very clear.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It's quick to make, but doesn't look it. It's a great clean starting place for your imagination to run wild! And no zips, buttons etc - yay! It doesn't use much fabric up either.
Fabric Used: A print rayon. Lovely and drapey.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added 8cm to the hem, I'm long in the body and don't like wearing short tops. I also slashed the sleeve pieces down the centre and spread 1.5cm to allow for a bit more movement. Also, instead of the neckline facing I used bias binding, more for aesthetic reasons than anything else.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew it again. I do recommend to others, it's especially good for beginners due to the great instructions, 'easiness' and the fact that it's designed to minimize any overlocking/finishing required.
Conclusion: A nice, easy to sew top that can be customised easily, and sewn up quickly - win!
