Pattern Description: skirt with four back panel variations
Pattern Sizing: 12 and 14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes, just like it.
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes, very easy. This is a very simple pattern, and I had no problems following the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that this is a basic pencil skirt but with a little interest in the back.
Fabric Used: corduroy and lining material
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I shortened it by an inch. I also added a lining by cutting out all the pieces again, except two of the front middle panel. When I put the lining together, instead of putting pleats I just put a vent on either side of the back middle panel. I attempted to make a size 12 at the waist, and grade to a 14 at the hips, but I messed up somewhere along the way and it came out really just a size 14, and this was too big for me. Next time I will make a size 12 but add some room on just the back princess seams so it doesn't cup my booty too inappropriately like the first muslin I made did.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, this is a very quick and easy pattern. I plan to make this again so I can get it right and make something I will wear. It is a nice, classic piece so would be a great wardrobe builder for work. It would be really fun and young in colors different from the normal brown/black/gray.
Conclusion: This is a really simple pattern, and makes a great looking skirt. I would recommend it, especially if you like pencil skirts. See more at my blog

This looks quite nice--I like the pleated inset in back. Hope the next version works a little better.

Hi, I really like how you did the lining...thanks for sharing your idea, especially showing clear explanatory photos! I noticed on your blog that others have commented re: sewing corduroy and I'll add my experience. I made a no waistband simple A-line skirt out of corduroy and yes it was strangely stretched to fitting looser than I expected, which was fine with me for a comfortable casual work skirt and I also biked to work in it, using it a lot. (I ironed carefully on the wrong side of the corduroy, having placed a thick towel on the ironing board throughout the sewing process.) Then when I made the exact same skirt pattern, cutting out an unknown type of fabric, when I tried it on, mid-construction (since I had the unexpected looseness of the 1st), I realized, whoops this is strange, it fits somewhat tighter than the corduroy...so I ripped out my seams (hadn't done the top facing yet, so not too onerous) and took out the seams 1/8" (giving me an extra total of 1/2" and the fit was good (not at all as loose as the corduroy though). Anyways, I learned a lesson ... since I thought whoops maybe when I cut them out, my accuracy was different on the 2 skirts, or had I stay-stitched the corduroy and stretched it out inadvertently... were my questions... the lessons I learned were stay stitch without stretching, make sure the seams have enough extra room to adjust, try on during curing construction...baste next time...since it was such a pain to rip out my almost invisible tight stitches (even realizing to try it on before the facing, I was still a bit over confident after having sewn the earlier corduroy skirt, which sewed up looser). Back to your skirt :), I'm glad that despite the issues you've had, you still recommend it. Thanks again for sharing.
