Pattern Description:
A straight cut blouse with a flounce at the collar.
Pattern Sizing:
Burda sizes 34-44.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not exactly. I made a lot of modifications! It's recognisable from the flounce though.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I can't comment on this - I had no instructions. A fellow blogger traced this and sent it to me because I liked hers so much. What a lovely lady!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's gotta be the flounce! It's the most gorgeous part of this pattern. Use a structured fabric like I did and the flounce becomes more 'out there', or use a drapey fabric to get a softer more flowing look.
Fabric Used:
A 100% printed cotton voile that I chose specifically because it was hard to tell the right side from the wrong side. The flounce isn't double sided - so you need to either take advantage of the different textural elements or deal with having both sides of the fabric on show.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I took in the side seams and the shoulder seam and added a bust dart to get a more fitted look - my body shape isn't flattered by something as boxy and flowy as this top.
I also used a self-fabric bias tape to bind the edges of the flounce.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely. This is one versatile, flattering little blouse. Unless you're like me and don't do well with boxy patterns - it won't need much altering either!
Conclusion:
A perfect, fluttering, lightweight summer blouse that doesn't cling - great for hot days. I'm really liking this
