| Pattern Description: baby Onesie
Pattern Sizing: Newborn to large
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes, minus the hearts and pink
Were the instructions easy to follow? yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I don't like the collar. Next time I will make it straight, and not curved. I found it awkward to attach to the collar.
The cuffs are too long for the pattern. I made it as per pattern, sewed it at the back seam, turned it out in half and pinned it in place; and thought nope, this is too long! So I cut it at the sewed line, and sewed it back up. It was perfect.
I used a much longer zipper. Diaper changes are very complicated otherwise. You have to take the arms out of the PJ's, then the legs. Basically you have to undress the child completely. Not very practical.
I used jiffy grip on the feet. I used the flannel for this inside liner and the jiffy grip on the outside. I don;t know why the pattern does not call for it. It is so much safer to have them walking around with the anti-slip material than the flannel!
I like that this pattern runs large (and my children are very small). This pattern wil last a long time. I started out with making the large, then the medium and now the small. My son fits in a RTW size 12 months and the small is a tad bit bog. This pattern will last for a nice while.
Fabric Used: Christmas Flannel
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: See above, the collar, cuffs, zipper and feet
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, and I have several times (4)
Conclusion: Great practice. There are not many patterns out there for sleepers. With my modifications I have this one perfected.
