Pattern Description: Children's coat pattern with 4 variations for hoods, sleeves, collars, pockets, and lengths.
Pattern Sizing:Children's sizes 3,4,5,6
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, the coat looks almost identical to version C.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the coat was fairly easy to make. I did sew in the sleeves before sewing the side or sleeve seams as I find that easier then trying to sew a finished sleeve into an armhole.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the detailing on the coat and thought they would be harder to obtain than they actually were. However, I found the construction of the 3 part sleeve a bit difficult to comprehend and had to study the pictures for awhile to get them right. Since I sewed the sleeves out of order from the pattern, this could have added to my confusion. There is a lot of top stitching so a good quality foot is helpful.
Fabric Used: Fleece
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added two pockets to version C and used fewer pompons. I only used the serger on the interface as the fleece didn't need anything beyond trimming. Because of the bulk of fleece, I used steam a seam to hem the coat.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Absolutely, it came out adorable. I will try the hooded version next. It was fun and fairly easy.
Conclusion: Very unique coat with nice detailing and great child appeal.
