Pattern Description: Hooded fleece jacket with snaps for baby/toddler girls. This was suggested as a starting point when I asked for suggestions for a fleece jacket for my goddaughter - I ended up not making my original idea but I am so glad I bought this pattern! It was perfect for my next idea!
Pattern Sizing: Pattern is sized from 62 cm - 92 cm. I made a 68 to fit my 7month old goddaughter - she wears 9months in RTW.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes! I think it's even cuter in velour because you can see the sweet gathers better then on fleece.
Were the instructions easy to follow? This was my first Ottobre pattern and I had no trouble. Instructions were brief but clear.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I LOVE the gathers! So sweet for little ones and it makes the sleeves nice and roomy. The binding is the perfect touch and the little pointed hood...I just love all of it!
Fabric Used:
Teal velour I found at a fabric outlet - made matching jackets for my three littest cousins out of it. This was part of an ensemble I made for Christmas. The binding is made from a cotton lycra that I made dresses for the three of them out of - I cut it on the lengthwise grain to get the stripes the way I wanted. Luckily, it had enough stretch to do this!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added machine embroidery to the left side before construction. I also omitted the topstitching on the sleeve seam, feeling it would crush my sweet gathers too much. I did all the other topstitching and I love it. I made my own binding from cotton lycra - I cut 2" wide stripes, seamed them together to make a very very long strip, and then sent it through my bias tape maker (one of the little Clover DIY ones) and ironed it in half to make double fold. This took a while but was so worth it!! The only tricky spot was binding the sleeves-over the gathers required some wondertape and basting. The rest was a breeze.Snaps and binding
I used size 16 snaps from Snap Source in a light teal color. Even though I was going through 5 layers of fabric, it worked great! I added a size tag and my label to the inside and I serged all the seams for a very RTW look. Label detail
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes to both! I already plan to make this again as she grows. I think it would also work in jersey for the spring.
Conclusion:
Great little jacket pattern with cute details!
What a gorgeous little jacket! It looks very professional and I love the embroidery.
