Pattern Description: Dress with bias cut, cowl neckline, and waist gathers.
Pattern Sizing: 34-42
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. This dress is extremely easy to put together. It is also the illustrated sewing course in this issue.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the side gathers. The "cowl" neckline is more of a fold than a cowl.
Fabric Used: Black and white suiting.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I traced a 42 through the shoulders and graded out to a 44 at the bust and a 46 at the hip. I added 1.5" of length at the waist and made a 3/8" petite adjustment above the bust.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably won't sew this again. The front draping and gathering borders on wrinkling and I haven't made up my mind if I like the dress on me or not.
Conclusion: Technically the dress is a success, but I'm not sure if I like it or not. I will have to wear it out and about to know for sure. For more photos, please visit my blog.

This dress DOES look good on you! It's a good fit. I also love the side gathers - very flattering. I see what you mean about the cowl but yours looks like the line drawing so that seems to be what they intended. A bit misleading calling it a "cowl" though... I wonder about the fabric - do you think a fairly sturdy knit might work? It should eliminate the wrinkling....

I personally love this dress! I think it looks great on you. Sometimes we just need a little time away from a project to give it a truly objective evaluation. Wear it with confidence, let the compliments roll in, and I think you will love it as much as we all do!
