Pattern Description:
Knit knee-length dress with front surplice (mock wrap) neckline, short kimono sleeves and an easily customizable midriff section. The skirt features in-seam pockets and falls in the soft folds of a vintage half-circle skirt. The pattern includes optional stripes placement guide, cup sizing A-D and a bust alteration line.
Pattern Sizing:
30-50 I made the size 35 with the D size front bodice piece.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, my finished dress looks the same as the pattern illustration.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Very easy to follow with good sewing illustrations. I was never confused about how to assemble this dress.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is the first mock wrap top or dress where my bust did not immediately escape from the top. Big plus there. Love the pockets and the flattering half circle skirt.
I'm very impressed with pattern drafting. Not only do you have different sizes, but different cup sizes for the front bodice. Also the wide waist band makes it easy to blend sizes if you need a larger one on the bottom. You actually draw in the side seam on that piece so that everything fits together perfectly.
Fabric Used:
Poly/lycra knit I've had in the stash for years and years. Originally from gorgeousfabrics.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
NO fitting changes, that's right, I sewed this directly out of the envelope. My dress was supposed to be a muslin but it fit perfectly. Let me stress that I never ever sew anything without fitting changes.
I did decide to lengthen the kimono sleeves to a 3/4 length. I did this by extending the sleeve line and comparing it to a kimono sleeve top in my wardrobe. I also drafted a thicker sleeve band hem 1.5 inches when folded over and serged.
Did reduce all the seam allowances to 1/4 so I could do all the assembly on my serger.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I will be sewing this and with the short sleeves for summer. I highly recommend this pattern to others.
Conclusion:
Beautiful, comfortable dress. What more could you ask for?

The neckline is so flattering with good coverage without being nun-ish. Congratulations on a beautiful and very useful dress. 12/31/12 1:19 PM
