| I made this dress for my 85 year old mother and we were both pleased. She is a short plus size and finds buying dresses impossible.
The fit is excellent and there are many built-in options that both make the fit work and make fine-tuning the fit easy. These are:
1. Three piece sleeve. Next version I am going to take advantage of this and narrow her sleeve from the bicep down, the three seams make custom sleeve fit easy.
2. Back neck darts.
3. Optional front and back French darts. I left these in the back to give the dress more shape but left them out to accommodate her waistline.
This pattern has both a dress and top version and a true wrap and a pull-on faux wrap. We made the pullover version. The neckline is excellent, a V without any gapping and a terrific shoulder, upper bust fit. These patterns are drafted for a larger cup size and smaller shoulders, which describes most women with fitting issues.
I am tall and at the smallest end of this pattern range (12) but I am so impressed with this pattern I am going to be making one for myself soon, much lengthened, as it seems to directly address my own fitting issues.

Are you a dear for sewing for your mom! It's a lovely way to "give back" for all those garments our moms sewed for us when we were young...
