Pattern Description: Misses', Mens', or Teens' Pants and Blanket
Pattern Sizing: Size A --XS, S, M, L, XL
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did although I added a border. click here
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy to follow. I really liked the directions for making the tie at waist. click here
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It just looked like a simple sleep pant with pocket. I think the next time I make it I will add inseam pockets.
Fabric Used: A very soft, silky cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made three of these -- pink patchwork cotton size S, orange patterned cotton in an XS, and the ones shown which were XS. I omitted the patch pockets on the ones shown as the fabric was so busy. If I had added a pocket, it would have been in the contrasting fabric used for the tie and border. If you sew it, check the pocket placement to see what is most natural. I thought it was too low. I would consider two patch pockets, but think my next ones will have deep inseam pockets on both sides.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would sew it again. There are many similar patterns, but I do like the cut of these. I had been given some J Crew sleep pants as a gift last year and liked them so I tried to make something similar. There are many tutorials online that advise just cutting your own pattern from a pair that you like. I tried that with some yellow flannel, and frankly, had better luck using the pattern.
Conclusion: This is a very simple pattern for sleep pants. I really liked the directions for making the ties. |
I wish I'd used this pattern rather than the one I did use. Really like the fabric and these are so cute, I'd be tempted to wear them out!
