Pattern Description:
Mens Pajamas: long sleeve nightshirt (D) and shorts. Pattern Sizing:
Large Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The shirt was a little tricky to get right, particularly with the interfacing around the v-neck. It didn't seem that the pattern pieces (tissue paper) matched up well for the front and back of the v-neck collar and the front/back of the shirt, and when trying to sew it there were bunching/wrinkles to deal with. The rest of the shirt and the shorts were incredibly easy. Fabric Used:
navy blue polyester dupioni. The fabric was mostly fantastic. The inside satin feels great and the outside matte silk is elegant masculine. It came through prewashing tumble dry low just fine. The raw edges tended to fray so gentle handling during sewing and overcasting was needed but the finished garment is sturdy. It was loosey goosey though so cutting it out accurately and holding the grain straight was time consuming. Held up to multiple pinnings and resewing well (see above) . Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added two inches of sleeve length. I also made the shorts as drawstring instead of elastic. Made two button holes in the waistband for the drawstring. If his shoulders are sloped downward, add a little extra length in the front and back of the shirt to give a horizontal bottom hem. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, although probably with an easier fabric next time. Conclusion:
Fun pattern. Would recommend.
