| Pattern Description:
(I called this #89 because that is what it appears to be on the pattern page, although on the picture page it looks like they are calling it #88.)
Lutterloh does not include a description of their patterns, but here is my description:
Slim-leg pants with a choice of knee length or full length. Elastic waist, in-seam pockets at hips and zippered pockets on front of thigh. Pattern Sizing
Lutterloh patterns rely on your own bust and/or hip measurements. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not especially. Due to my large size the legs are not "slim" Were the instructions easy to follow?
No instructions included. I have the "Instruction Manual" by Sonja Bezuidenhout that is available through the New Zealand site and I used the instructions for pants construction from it. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I didn't like the futzing around with topstitching the pockets. I didn't mark the placement lines and had a hard time getting the location right. Fabric Used:
A woven RPL (rayon-poly-lycra) from Emma Onesock. Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:
I had to take out some fullness in the thighs (see comments, below).
Ordinarily I have to make a tilted waist adjustment, but did not have to with these pants. Comments: Muslin right Muslin front
muslin - tan and green front, white linen look back. Skin tight (I had added used 5/8 inch SA) , fabric flares out along the thighs like they are jodhpurs. Did not do pockets. Length - did not add any for hem since they looked long.
Adjustments to muslin - Pinned out fullness at thighs (and moved hip curve all the way to the top of the SS, )
Cut off 2 inches at hemline
Made fold over casing 3 cm, to accommodate 1 inch elastic
Used dots 17.5 and 21.5 or 22.5 for pocket placement
Final garment - During the first wearing, I realized that the crotch and pockets were too low (I had to roll the waistband up about 1 1/2 times for it to feel normal),so I shortened the pants 1 1/4 inch at the waist.
They were too long in the legs, so I cut off another 2 inches at the hem for a total of 4 inches shorter than the pattern, and I am 5'5" tall. The next time I will change it so 2 inches is taken off in the middle of the thigh and 2 inches is taken off the hem. Back view Side view
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. I feel like this could become a TNT pattern for me. Conclusion
This was my first Lutterloh garment sewn to completion. There was a lot more tweaking involved than I expected, but I am happy with the results.

Nice review! Lutterloh is a good system. I had trouble with pants fitting though, but that's my untoward shaped body I am sure. I hope you do find this to be a TNT! :)

Thanks for the review. I have Lutterloh but not had any success with it - I think it was because I tried to use it when I first started sewing and knew nothing about patterns. You have achieved a nice fit. Good job.

You got an excellent fit out of this system. Good work, they hang really nice.
