Pattern Description:
Misses' skirt in three lengths Pattern Sizing:
6-14, I made a size 14 based on my waist measurement Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes Were the instructions easy to follow?
Pretty much What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the curved yoke waistband, the different lengths/details offered in the pattern, the simplicity of the pattern. Fabric Used:
Lightweight denim (6 oz. or 8 oz., I can't remember now, but it was the lightest denim on the shelf) from Joann Fabrics Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made View C but shortened it, I did not add pockets or any of the other details. I used an invisible zipper. At the point of sewing up the back seam and inserting the zipper, I switched to the Colette pants/shorts directions for inserting an invisible zipper with a waistband. I hemmed the skirt using rayon seam binding from A Fashionable Stitch. Also, I used some leftover cotton lawn for the inside waistband to keep it from being too bulky and to add a sweet detail on the inside. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I would like to sew it again and try inserting a lining, a first for me. I would highly recommend this pattern. At its most simple level, it's a great pattern for beginners since you only have to fit your waist. It's also a great wardrobe builder and flattering to wear. Conclusion:
I was trying to replicate a skirt I saw in an ad and this pattern came pretty close to the shape of the skirt I saw. It was also quick and satisfying to sew.
