Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? For the most part yes, I don't really stress out about details too much. So they were loosely followed
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is my second attempt at this pattern and I love the end result. So whatever you have to do to get to the finished product is worth it.
Fabric Used: Novelty fabric. Silky stuff
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Okay, this costume is View C with View A's corset. I only hiked up one side of the skirt and I didn't have to hem it because I wanted a frayed rough edge. Used scissors to just cut around the edge and time will make it rougher which is what I want. Grey underskirt with black ontop. I found a purple gray scrap of fabric that I loved so much I had to use it but I didn't have enough for the underskirt so I only made half and attached it to the front of underskirt. ****The shirt I didn't hem the sleeves I left them rough and a little stringy. ***The corset. Since this is the 2nd time I've made this costume and I knew how big it ran I took the corset in. I took about an inch and a half on both sides under the arm and I also took about an inch and half on both sides of the shoulder strap things right at the bust line. I don't have a lot of experience with making things smaller but this seems to work well. and I'm happy with the result. Also I used sewable boning. I sewed it to the back side of corset and wraped the binding around it. I feel like it was easier to do that then to follow the directions and you can't tell the difference. Unless someone knows that it was supposed to be a different. The bag I added my own applique because we will eventually be going to a Disney Halloween party and we love Disney at our house.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I would sew it again.
Conclusion: The decorations make this costume pirate. If you take the all the extra off it would make a great witch costume. I feel like my money was well spent because I can get years of use out of this. Also....to make dread locks for the pirate look use the small pink knifty knitter tool and tie the dreads to a rubber band and then you have 'in my opinion' pretty realistic dread locks! Also added sashes and beads and a big black belt. Check it out: Finished pirate look
