|Pattern Description: |
Above mid-knee, straight dresses A, B, C have diagonal seams in front, back exposed zipper and extended shoulders, forming cap sleeve; dress A has front cut-out;
dress B has diagonal, exposed decorative zippers;
dress C has topstitched seams.
6 - 12. I made the 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did. I've used a animal print and a solid colour for added interest. I chose an animal print because Pretty Grievances has a Jungle January sewalong.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were easy to follow.
To be honest, I've sewn clothes with exposed zippers lately and I was able to manage sewing in the zippers on the front quiet easily using "Steam a seam lite 2".
The back of the dress has a zipper and while I wanted to leave it out, I did use an invisible zip to get the shaping on my sway back. I'm pleased that I did add the invisible zipper.
Here's a link to my blog.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love a good diagonal on a fitted dress bodice.
The zippers were an added bonus since learning how to sew exposed zippers.
Folding over the hems and sewing with a single line of sewing along the neckline and armhole made this a super quick dress to whip up!
Two ponte knits. The bodice uses an animal print - just in time for Jungle January. The other ponte is basic black. This is the tamest tiger of the lot.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a roll shoulder adjustment and a sway back adjustment.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would and if you are curious to see how ponte can be used for a dress instead of pants, I would recommend making this dress.
If you are tall ie, more than 5'2", adjust the hem for your height. This dress is mid above mid knee (thigh?), so the hem was perfect on me, 'cause I'm short.
I'd like to make another one, very soon. It would be perfect for "one pattern, many looks".
