Easy to wear and easy to sew- pull-on pant - just wait till you try this one!! You will love it!
Pattern Sizing:
StyleArc uses single pattern sizing. The pattern is available in sizes 6 through 30 AUS Sizing - they have a size chart on their website. Use it to get your size right.
Being a large apple shape I took Shams advice and used my hip measurements rather than my waist measurements and then did a full stomach adjustment. Hence I sewed a size 24 pattern with lots of adjustments.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
As mentioned before - SA have minimal instructions - however these pants are very easy to sew and as a beginner I found it easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Love how easy it was to sew. I managed to get a good fit for me. The pants have turned out very very comfortable. This is my second version. I didn't post the first one (which was in jersey and I felt "cheating" a little as jersey is very forgiving fit wise).
I also managed to get a reasonable copy of my old favourite ready to wear pair.
Being an apple I hate how most pants that fit me in the stomach swim on my legs. Choosing a straight leg pant and basing the size on my hips really helped with this.
Fabric Used:
A lovely RPL from EmmaOneSock
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Heaps - I first did a full tummy adjustment from the book - Dressmaking to flatter your shape by Lorna Knight. I did this for the first Jersey Pair I made. Because RPL doesn't has as much stretch as jersey I then added some more on the sides.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes yes yes yes yes.
Conclusion:
These pants enjoy a good reputation on PR and deservedly so. They are very comfy and IMO look great.
Unfortunately you only have the option of choosing one rating. Not only would I rate this Highly Recommend, I would also rate it - Easy for Beginners and Great Wardrobe Builder

Austragirl - the book is good and I really like their pictures - actual photographs of pattern alterations. This book has a lot of different alterations in and I find the pictures easier to interpret than Fit for Real People - however FFRP has much better written instructions. FFRP did not have the large stomach adjustment for pants. If I could meld both books it would be perfect. 1/7/13 7:42 PM
