Pattern Description:
Lined, fitted coat has double-breasted buttoned or snap closing. Princess seams and shoulder pads. A: below hip length, contrast upper collar. B: 2" above mid-knee length. C: 1" above ankle length. D: mid-calf length. E: 6" above ankle length, contrast fake fur upper collar.

Pattern Sizing:

A(6-8-10), D(12-14-16), FW(18-20-22). I cut a stright size 18 but graded up to a 20 at the fullest part of the bust.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Sort of? I altered my coat to be single, rather than double, breasted and re-cut the collar to match the size and shape of a fur I already owned. Additionally, the pattern shows the fur as view E while I used the view B length... So it looks different but as a similar feeling to the pattern drawing.

Were the instructions easy to follow? As far as I can tell. Due to the alterations I made, I pretty much ignored them. In the end it's a pretty straight-forward pattern and the instructions aren't really necessary if you've ever made a lined coat before.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I actually really love this pattern. The peices fit together beautifully without any stretching, pulling, or adjusting. (Even the set-in sleeves! I almost always have to rip-out and redo at least one set-in sleeve!)

The only thing I disliked about the pattern was the hemming. I really dislike hemming (or any handstitching really) and this coat has a LOT of hem. I'm not particularly slow at hemming but I watched an entire movie and two full sitcoms on hulu before I finished, seriously it took almost three hours. Invest in a thimble.

Fabric Used:
A navy blue cashmere coating that I believe I picked up at Fabric Mart. It is super soft and warm. The collar is a vintage fur that I inherited from my cousins' grandmother. (I am so lucky that my cousins are not really the vintage fur type!) The lining is some sort of poly blend bought at Joanns in thier "silky" section. I purchased it a long time ago but I'm pretty sure it's a blend rather than 100% polyester like most of the "simply silky prints" line because it is heavier and has a crisper hand than you usually find in that section of my favorite (only) retail chain establishment.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I redrafted the collar to match the size and shape of the fur that I already owned. I also changed the coat from double-breasted to single-breasted.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would definitely sew this coat again. The fit is great and I think this could easily become a tried-and-true pattern for outerwear for me.

I just bought this pattern today and plan on doing some major alterations myself. I want to lose the sleeves completely and make it a long vest for a Victorian/Steampunk riding habit. You did a lovely job and your coat makes me just want to snuggle into it.
