Pattern Description:
New from the Spring 2012 Armani runway, this kimono/princess seam knit top with the peplum hemline is flattering on every figure type. The cup sizing is built into the princess seaming in the front. This pattern is for 1 or 2 way stretch knits and works with all kinds of knit weights. Silk knits, rayon knits, and cotton knits work well.

Pattern Sizing:
1-4 and 5w-8w. I made a 1 but I took larger seams...which because it is princess seamed, and there were a million seams, means it made the item a little too small... (more details on my blog.)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
sort of...I am still not getting the amount of peplumyness that I would like. I still think this is due to fabric choice...my first version was made out of a slinky knit so it was fairly heavy and I think that attributed to its lack of peplumyness. However, it looks awesome so I didn't end up with a ruined garment.
This time the garment still looks good, but this fabric has a sort of plasticky type overlay (not like a vinyl..it's hard to describe) and I think it has severely affected its ability to drape well. So next time I have a tissue weight rayon knit...and I am going to make it work!

Were the instructions easy to follow?
It is a very simple garment and Silhouette pattern instructions tend to be very well done. This one includes serging instructions which is good because I make the entire thing on my serger.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this pattern! Still getting the hang of the fabric choice...

Fabric Used:
As described above, it is a polyester knit that has some type of plasticky feeling overlay on top. But it is red and an animal print and I used it for my submission into Jungle January. I just need to use this fabric for more t-shirt types in the future...nothing needing drape...because it just won't drape!

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
As described on my blog, I took larger seams this time which ended up in the garment being slightly too small...which mainly only affected the arms. My last version seemed a tad too large but I think that is because of the nature of a slinky knit...you always need to go smaller because of it's weight and drape.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am going to sew it again...in a tissue weight rayon..and maybe even add some width onto the bottoms of the flare...I will get that peplumy flare that is on the pattern envelope no matter how many tries! (mainly because the garment still looks great even when I don't...so more tries just mean more great garments even if it takes me awhile...)
