Pattern Description:
Double breasted kids coat with peter pan collar.
Pattern Sizing:
Age 1 to 6
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It did
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Well, I am used to very short, direct instructions. These were quite elaborate, which I find rather confusing, so after the first instructions I just followed my usual routine instead of following the instructions that came with the patterns. Particularly confusing were the pictures with pins: I really couldn't figure out how I would ever have a WIP that would look like this picture. I felt rather silly, I think the detailed instructions will work really well if you haven't made many lined coats yet.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I did like the rounded yoke, the collar, the pleat at the back.

I was a bit confused about the included seam allowances on the pattern and no pattern lines. Again, probably because I am used to adding my own seam allowances, so I do know how a pattern piece without allowance should look like, this was just a bit out of my comfort zone.
Fabric Used:
A sort of faux fur with animal print. A lot of polyester, I guess. I lined the jacket with a quilted lining and a very lightweight windproof layer.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
- I tapered the sleeves about an inch.
- I made a size 5 for my 6 year old, but lengthened the sleeves by an inch or so.
- I added extra buttons for closure (8 instead of 4, only 4 with button holes, the other ones because it looks nice).
- I cut the back pattern on the center fold. Didn't see the use of a center back seam.
- I top stitched all around the coat and the collar to flatten the coat, I wasn't sure if ironing this fabric would be such a good idea.
- I attached the pleat of the outer coat to the lining - to make the coat stand out a bit less.
- I made bound button holes, they didn't turn out all that well, mostly because of the terrible fabric (terrible to sew), but I could have paid a bit more attention to them.

(- I should have added pockets)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I think it would make a cute summer coat, I might try that in a few months. I do like that the coat stands out a little - it makes my tall yet very slim girl look a bit bigger. My daughter is really happy with her new coat, she walks like a model whenever she is wearing it.
Conclusion:
A classic, stylish yet playful coat that I will definitely make again in a less wintery fabric.
