Pattern Description: A funky skirt from Sandra Betzina. This is an updated version of her previous skirt, V1018, which I made 5 or 6 times. But this one has eliminated the 60 tucks, making it faster to sew. It has also swapped out the waistband/zipper combo for an elastic waist, which is what I did on the versions of 1018 I made.
It's a great pattern.
Pattern Sizing: A - J, Betzina sizing. I made an E, I believe.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much. The version on the pattern envelope uses a wonderful wild print, which makes it a bit hard to see the detail of the drape with the large tucks. I made mine using a bold graphic print, but not quite as chaotic as the Vogue version. This would also work beautifully in a solid fabric. The pattern calls for a knit, but wovens also work well, if they are the right woven.
On me On hangar
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The wonderful drape, the funky styling.
Fabric Used: I'm guessing it is a poly, though it has a weird coating. I think it is a home dec fabric. I bought it more than a year ago at FabricMart.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? You betcha! I do not need more skirts of this style, but I like it well enough to make it at least once more.
Conclusion: More info, and more pics, on the blog.

This skirt goes beyond the current peplum craze. The folds and the fabric you've chosen are stunning.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this skirt, dang it! Now I'm going to have to get THIS pattern, too. :o) I know exactly which pattern you mean that had all the tucks, too. I HAVE that pattern, but never could bring myself to actually MAKE it. THIS is a different story, though. :o) I like your PORCUPINE top, too. :o) (I think I misspelled that, BUT I DON'T CARE.)

OMG your skirt looks fantastic! I was so glad to see your review of this pattern because I just sewed this pattern up over the weekend... and I consider mine an epic fail! I'm going to check out your blog to see how you navigated the side drape pleats.

Thanks, everyone, for the great comments! @mad stash. Sorry if I disappointed you on the blog. I've made this draped piece many times before (using the original pattern). Now that you mention it, I do remember that the dots didn't match up quite as well as they should have. But I just made it work and soldiered on. I do think the points matched up better on the original pattern.

Sfshaza, Thank you so much for explaining how you made the side drape. Your skirt is so chic and that porcupine jacket is out of this world awesome. You inspired me to try to work out the kinks w/ my skirt. (I'll post here in the next few days.)

Oh, another beautiful skirt from shams! I'm sorry I missed it while I was gone, but I am slowly catching up with my fave reviewers. This is so pretty, and I think I'll make mine in a solid first.
