Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, sort of. I made a lot of modifications.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I didn't like the gathered sleeve caps, but that's more of a personal preference. I liked the pattern, it was easy to modify and sew.
Fabric Used:
Grey wool coating, black microsuede for the flat piping, and some kind of synthetic for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did an FBA and lengthened the waist by 1". I made view A, but left off the collar and drafted a hood instead. I respaced the buttons and added 2 more to make 9 buttons on the coat front. ( The button on the collar had been left off, since I didn't make it.) I cut the sleeves into 3 pieces to add piping and embroidery. I flat piped the princess seams on front and back, and in between the lining and facing of the front and hood. I interfaced both the front panels and the front facing to give the coat more body. I lowered the sleeve cap height and scooped some out of the armscye in front and back, and lowered it by about 1/4 inch. I also left off the bar and button detail in the back and made a series of overlapping fabric loops to lace a ribbon through, like a corset across the back panels.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I intend to sew it again. Next time I will do a swayback adjustment and make the pockets larger. I would recommend it, it is easy to sew for beginners.
Conclusion:
Very good pattern. The princess seams make it easy to fit. I will definitely make it again.

Very storybook and wonderful! fyi - I don't think your review is linked to the pattern. Maybe the "B" in front of the # is throwing it off?

I am speechless, what a stunning coat. Despite the "easy & great for beginners" tag, I doubt that I'd even contemplate it.
1/15/13 4:11 PM
Great job. Workmanship looks spotless. I can't imagine this being a great beginner project, especially with them modifications. Your garment looks better than the one on the package.

Your coat looks so professionally made. It's absolutely gorgeous and you wear it like a professional model. Fantastic work.

Do you have a picture of the back?
1/15/13 10:58 PM
Gorgeous coat! You really altered the pattern to make it your own. How did you remove the extra sleeve cap ease?
1/15/13 11:53 PM
Thanks so much, everyone! I guess I tagged it as "Easy" based on the original pattern, not my modifications. The pattern is listed as "easy to make" on the envelope, and I think that it would be pretty easy for a beginner coat. Princess seams are easier to modify for shape, and it doesn't have any welt pockets, ect. that are more advanced to make. @Karen Easter, I do, but I'm not sure how to load more than one photo to the review? Sorry, still learning about the site. :) @Becca A., I did it a fast and dirty way because I had already cut the self fabric - I lowered the sleeve cap height at the top by about an inch and reshaped the cap down to the notches. The next time I make the coat, I will recalculate the sleeve ease and change the pattern.

This looks like a beautiful costume from a 1940s technicolor film. I LOVE the pop of red in the hood's lining. Beautiful coat!
