I drafted this dress for Makenzi to wear in her mom's wedding as a Jr. Bride.
Mom and Grandmom could not find a dress that Makenzi liked in her size that would match or come close to her mom's wedding gown, so this is what I came up with.
That's the only thing about buying clothes for little ones, especially formal attire. All kids cannot be boxed into the same sizing category. Kids just do not grow the same. And. it leaves the consumers frustrated.
Her grandmother is a freind of mine and we collaborated on how Makenzi's dress would like. It took two trial runs, but I got it right.
Makenzi was bent on having halter straps, so we gave her what she wanted.
I used a dull satin to make her dress, and lined it with a casa lining,
The dress is a princess cut bodice with an a-line pick-up skirt. I add the lace appliques to resemble her mother's dress, along with the lace trim around the waist for added detail. The dress has an invisible zipper closure; it is fully lined.
To give her that junior bride feel, I made her a short veil to wear.
Makenzi was so happy to wear her dress!
Great work on that dress. You made it without a pattern?? :
