Pattern Description: This review is for the dress from a vintage Career Wardrobe pattern by Goeffrey Beene. The dress has cap sleeves and pockets.

Pattern Sizing: I made the 12. If anyone else makes this, as a guide, my bust measurement should have meant cutting a 14, and the hip finished measurement is generous (its printed on the pattern). The 12 was right for me, certainly not too tight. I can get a smooth knit pullover under it.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this pattern, first of all it fitted with almost no alterations. It has a nice shape but is easy to wear, and the pockets are great.

Fabric Used: I used a mystery fabric, the only thing I'm sure about is that the yarn its woven from is spun as for a crepe, so it has a textured surface. The plaid is printed on it, black on grey.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None, other than pulling in the waist darts a tiny bit. This is the second time I have made this, the first time I converted it to a jacket by putting in a front band, and extending the sleeves into a kimono cut. That version is on this blog post

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes.

Conclusion: Great pattern, easy to make and easy to wear, versatile. blog post

Very nice! Nostalgia for GB - I loved GB patterns, but had very little chance or need to wear them- not the thing to wear to high school and no chance afterwards with a uniform required career. I still have a couple of early 90s GB patterns and the actual dresses that my mother made up for me to wear to weddings about 20 years ago. Went to http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com to see some of his patterns. I remember so many of them. My mother made 1285 with the wavy inset waistband from wool crepe.

Fabulous dress and love the jacket you made from this pattern. You have wonderful "vision" to have thought of making the jacket from this pattern. Made me nostalgic for the GB patterns. Thanks for reviewing.
