Pattern Description: Easy sleeveless Drape Front Top for Knits.
Pattern Sizing:Pattern is multisized for bust 33" - 45". I used size S (35.5" bust). I am actually a 34" bust so this should have been big on me but its not. For reference I usually sew size 10 (36) in big 5.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Well since I used the sleeves from Birgitte Tee my top looks a little different but other than that, the drape matches the photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy. The neck and armholes are finished either with clear elastic or fold over elastic. The pattern PDF has very clear illustrated instructions which makes this a winner!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the draft. There is enough fabric in the drape facing that the wrong side doesn't show. I love that this is such a quick pattern to sew. The shoulder seam is wide enough that there is no danger of straps peeking out.
Fabric Used: I used a slightly beefy Rayon Lycra Knit. I should have used a little drapier fabric. I should know this, I've sewn my share of drape top patterns
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only design change I made was to add sleeves from the Birgitte Tee pattern. The sleeve had too much ease so I took it in about 2 inches. I bound the back neck instead of using clear elastic or fold over. Just a personal preference.
I can see that I need the following alterations for my next version.
a) FBA
b) Forward shoulder adjustment
If I do those, this will be a staple in my wardrobe!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will totally sew this again. I love this style and I think its flattering on most women.
Conclusion: This is my first MariaDenmark pattern and I am thrilled with the result. I was able to tape the pattern together very quickly and sew it together in one night! And this is when I have a very inquisitive toddler who wants to climb up my cutting table and wants to see everything!
