For my second version, I made the top with elbow length sleeves. I used the same neckline. I added 1 inch to the length. I used a cotton/lycra shirting from Mood Fabrics.
I love this version of the Alma too!
Here is the blog post for the second version.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1
Pattern Description: This is a semi-fitted blouse with neckline and sleeve variations. I made the long sleeved version with the notched neckline.
Pattern Sizing: Available in sizes 0-16; I made a 12 based off of my measurements.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? For me, yes. However, I could see them being problematic for a newer seamstress. The instructions are minimal. Keep a sewing handbook or internet resources handy to help guide you through any steps you get stumped on.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? My wardrobe is lacking in pretty, everyday blouses and this one helps close the gap. I like the neckline variations and especially like the one I used with the little notch in front. It adds some interest. I also really like the shape created by the front and back darts. It makes the blouse very feminine.
My one dislike is tracing the darts! There is a mess of lines and your size is not clearly marked, making it difficult to follow the correct line. I recommend highlighting the correct line on the pattern piece to make it easier.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not make any alterations- it fit right out of the envelope.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I already have plans for another version using this pattern. And yes- I do recommend it.
Conclusion: Nice, everyday blouse that can be dressed up or down. You can make one in just your style with all the different variations!
Beautiful top, looks very nice on you!
