Pattern Description: Rebecca Taylor! Loose-fitting, pullover dress (semi-fitted through bust) has double-layer neck band with raw edge finish, blouson bodice, elastic, seamed waist, side front pockets, front pleats, and stitched hems.
Pattern Sizing: 6 - 22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Just loving this pattern. Soft bodice, slim pretty sleeves, and very unusual pockets sewn into the waistline and side seams.
The overall effect is well-balanced and so easy to wear.
And to sew. The pattern pieces fit together really nicely (I love Vogue patterns...). And the instructions are good - no second-guessing.
Fabric Used: I used a midweight cotton jersey knit from Holly Lobby. I really like midweight cotton jersey for dresses - easy to sew, no seam curl problems. I pre-washed the fabric (of course!) because one can expect a 15% - 20% shrinkage on a cotton knit. The colors stayed true and dense after washing. No twist!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: This dress is a dream to sew. I sewed my usual Vogue size 14. I added 2" to the length (I'm 5'7" and do not wear short short dresses . One note: I like my long sleeves to be long, over my wrists and onto the top of my hand. I took up a bare 5/8" seam on the sleeve - and I have short arms according to my ballet teacher of many years ago. You might want to measure, tack on an inch or so, before you cut the sleeve. Other than that - the sleeve is well drawn, not too slim.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This will definitely be a repeat for me. And yes!
Conclusion: Jungle January! And a great dress. Would look pretty with a wide or thin belt, jacket or cardi. But I really like this look, simple and classy.

Oh, this is very nice. I love blouson bodices but I'm not sure they will work with my waist anymore. Thanks for reminding me that Hobby Lobby carries fabrics like this--I think of them for quilting fabrics only.

I bought this pattern today thanks to you. Yours is adorable. Does the waist sit at your waist or above it? I looks a little shortwaisted in the photo...haven't broken into the pattern yet...wondering if I'll have to lengthen the bodice...

Thank you all so much! The dress waist is at the natural waist...I did add a couple inches to my bodice to get it there!
