Pattern Description:
Misses top pullover, hip length tops A, B, C, D. A, B: over-the-shoulder bias cut drape is stitched in front and back darts. B: elasticized at lower edge. C, D: pleated at front neckline, darted in back, with or without gathered cap sleeves.
I made View D - pleated neckline with gathered cap sleeve. Pattern Sizing:
8 - 14. I made the 8 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It did. Here's what it looks like on. Were the instructions easy to follow?
I stuck to the instructions and was glad I did. The top turned out nicely. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is a very feminine top but has nice structure to it. It's also a great summer top because it's not fitted at the waist but is structured at the neckline. Fabric Used:
I used a remnant silk georgette so I only had just enough fabric to make this top.
This fabric was bought for a scarf but I'm really pleased I have this pattern in my pattern stash.
I made a second version using a stiffer silk and it didn't sit nicely at all so the trick is to use a light weight, soft fabric.
I so love the sleeves in a soft fabric. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. I did a roll shoulder adjustment: took 2cm off the front shoulder seam and added 2cm to the back shoulder seam.
2. Once I made this top, I cut 2 inches off the hem. I didn't do this at the start because I have adjusted the hem on the tissue before only to find I mismeasured the hem. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I love the pleated neckline feature and no waist fitted for an elegant summer top. If you have this pattern, use it when you're planning your summer wardrobe. Conclusion:
I'm very likely to be on the look out for more appropriate silk remnants for future summer tops, if the colour and price is right ) |
