| Pattern Description: This easy-to-sew unlined coat is designed for fleece or other soft coating fabrics. It features angled pockets at side front, a wrap front with neckline button closures and turned down collar with an extended scarf end that wraps around to the back.
Pattern Sizing: Ladies 30-46/Plus ladies 46-56
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Mostly. Like other reviewers said, the fullness around the bottom is not quite like the picture shows. But it's still very roomy and will allow you to wear it even with a bulky sweater underneath.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I followed them exactly. The pocket construction and clipping the corner had me a little nervous, but it worked.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the fact that there weren't too many pattern pieces. I really liked the style since it's different from what I see in stores. I've had this pattern for years but was a little hesitant because of the sketch on the pattern envelope as opposed to a real picture. Due to my body style, I knew this would be a good pattern for me since the shoulder seams are not too restrictive and the sleeves have cuffs. My cuffs are only about 2" deep, so I wish I have lengthened the sleeves a little. The scarf wrap around my neck is awesome since all of my other jackets seem to let too much cold air in around my neck. I chose a conservative navy fleece, which looks dressy or casual. A lighter fabric with contrasting top-stitching and serged edges in wild colors could make this a fun funky, urban style jacket.
Fabric Used: Navy blue fleece. I lined it with a lightweight polyester lining (about 2 yards)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lined it. I tried it on before attaching the scarf and was not happy with how much time I was spending getting the shoulder seams in the right places. So I knew a lining would fix that. I took the front and side front pieces and pinned them together for my front lining pieces. Then cut two front pieces, one back piece and four sleeve pieces. Assembled them using a 4 thread serger stitch since linings tend to ravel and fall apart if you don't finish the edges well. I cut the sleeve linings about four inches shorter than the pattern pieces, since I didn't want the lining showing on the cuffs. I cut the front and back about " shorter than the pattern and serged the bottom edge. Lastly, I attached the lining to the neck egde BEFORE attaching the scarf with a seam allowance to hold it in place. Then I finished the front edges with a serged four thread overlock stitch, catching both the fleece and the lining. Attached the scarf as per the directions. I did a quick whipstitch between the seam allowances on both side seams near the bottom to connect the lining to the outer fabric (since the bottom of the lining is loose). This keeps the lining from moving around too much. Did the same on the inside of the sleeves between the lining and the outer fabic. Just enough to keep them together.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would recommend it to others but with some stipulations. I'm 5'8" tall, I have size 14 shoulders, a size 10 bust and very long arms and legs. So finding patterns to fit me is difficult and I was very happy with this one. BUT, the ladies size is pretty generous across the shoulders so it might be pretty big on a petite woman. I think I will get a request from a friend of mine to make one, but I might go with the urban, contrast stitching route. Should be fun!
Conclusion: Easy to make. Even though the lining added some time to the project I think it will be worth it. Between the fleece, lining and notions I have about $27 invested in the coat.

What a great review! I like your coat too. However, the picture does not get larger. I think you can fix that by either linking it to an online photo album or the pattern review album.

I've had this pattern "forever" as well and almost forgot about it. I appreciate you review. I just might have to dust this baby off!
